Leslie M. Nolan Artist Remarks at Arts Club of Washington With Curator Erich L. Keel Third From Left
Had an interesting and fun November 7 opening for my show of 13 artworks at The Arts Club of Washington. President James Monroe occupied this gorgeous, stately, historic residence and held the inaugural ball upstairs. It is a Washington, DC gem. Curator Erich L. Keel, Head of Education at the Kreeger Museum (Emeritus), made remarks and I had an opportunity to say a few words, too, along with fellow exhibitors Bob Tetro and Jane Godfrey. Hard to tell from these photographs, but it was a huge turnout.
My thanks to the ever-gracious Gallery Director Nichola Hays for her support and expertise. The exhibit is open to the public through November 29. Check it out:

Above, some random photos of the Touchstone Gallery room at (e)merge art fair in Washington, DC. The fair, which ran from Oct 2-5, was jammed with folks who love art – buyers, curators, artists, art students, collectors, gallerists, and art writers. Lots of traffic and a very supportive administrative staff tending to the needs of participants. Kudos to the organizers and staffers who made it happen.
The Touchstone room attracted lots of visitors during this first year of participation. Thanks to Gallery Director Ksenia Grishkova and Director’s Assistant Rachel Tanzi for their staffing, and to fellow exhibitors Ai-Wen Wu Kratz and Pete McCutchen for their fabulous artwork and assistance before, during and after.

Check out this link for the gallery blog about Beyond the Edge this month. Want to thank all those who came out in support, including family, friends, and fellow artists, and, in particular, the Gallery staff who have been so helpful during this period. They did a terrific job hanging the show.

Many thanks to Gallery Director Rose O’Donnell and Assistant Director Katie Andril (and her predecessor Katie Scharma) for their top-notch support throughout the two-year process of submission, jurying, acceptance, selection of artwork, and installation. It’s an honor to be there.
I’m in good company along with Ai-Wen Wu Kratz and Pete McCutchen representing Touchstone Gallery at the (e)merge art fair in DC October 2 – 5. Although I received notice of our acceptance last month, the fair just announced the final list of all exhibitors. It’s an impressive list of artists and galleries from around the world, the nation and from Washington, DC itself
In May and June 2014 I was teamed up with fellow artist Susan Makara for “Vivid” a two-artist exhibit at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, MD. What a fabulous building with tall walls, space to breathe, and high windows. It really showed off the artwork to full advantage. Our show a fine review by Washington Post art critic Mark Jenkins.
Thanks to Gallery Director Anne Burton and Executive Director Krista Bradley for the opportunity and for their support. In addition, my appreciation to the members of the Germantown Art League for hanging and staffing the opening reception.
Last night at Susan Calloway Fine Arts in Georgetown, Washington, DC, I attended the first opening at this lovely gallery since my joining earlier this month. Fabulous evening, well-attended with interesting visitors/clients. Lots of sold artwork with red dots everywhere! After the reception walked a block up Wisconsin Ave for dinner at Bistro Lepic. Stop by and see the show when you’re in this fabulous area, an enclave of nine galleries on Book Hill.

Earlier this year my solo exhibit at Touchstone Gallery in Washington, DC took place. Talented photographer Aileen Beringer, a recent graduate from the Corcoran School of Art and Director’s Assistant at Touchstone, not only shot, but also directed and edited this video. The exhibit’s showstopper was the diptych Pulled By What Would Be. Fully 8 feet wide by 5 feet high this artwork makes a tremendous impact from across the room. Aileen was a huge help hanging this exhibit which was complicated by the variety of sizes. In contrast to the huge Pulled… the exhibit also featured several tiny 6″ x 6″ pieces, along with many medium sizes.
